5.3 swap?
you'll need a new transmission, obviously, and probably a new differential, and that will mean a new drive shaft, and a bunch of fab work around the rear end as well as the engine mounting cradle. custom exhaust headers, needless to say.
yeah, for sure you'll want much bigger front brakes at least. beefier front springs, too, like the ones from a volvo 240 diesel
most engine conversions I've seen have been pretty much hack jobs, with ugly butchered together instrument panels, etc. very few done cleanly and elegantly.

I just bought an 86 DL245 Wagon for this exact purpose!!! Yeah, 5.3 or 6.0 is what I am going. There is a lof stuff out there for this. like Volvo to LS engine mounts, this guy also makes trans crossmembers!!!
