740 16 v won't start, lined all marks
1990 740 16 valve died on a left turn at about5-10 mph. Took top belt cover off, noticed loose timing belt, bad thought's ran in my head! Took rest of covers off. oil pump pulley laying there, bolt snapped off. Timing belt and everything else looked good. Bought new bolt, torqued it to about 25 lbs. Put belt back on, (Will get new one soon) aligned all the marks. Cam pulley to top marks, crank to TDC. Rotated by hand a couple of times to make sure that no valves had hit pistons. So far so good, easy going. Tried to start, but no ignition, just starter turning everything over. Went to the simple diagnostic check system, codes 1-4-1 (Crank signal o k), 3-3-4(engine throttle o k) #1 plug wire sparks, fuel good. No ignition. Now I am charging the new battery. Anyone have any ideas out there?? Dragan

Go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free diagnostic guide for 740/940 no-starts. Also, take the real life Volvo quiz #2. That might be your problem.
