I can't get any sort of answer over in another sub forum, so I'll ask it here.

I've done quite a bit of searching around on this forum and some other places, and cannot seem to figure out if the 740/940 was offered w/ a manual tranny. I've never seen one, and have been looking for one for sale, but have had no luck. Can anyone offer a little insight into the subject matter?

I'd really like a turbo 940 sedan w/ a manual tranny if such a creature exists.

I have a 87 740 gle with a manual tranny. Its sweet haha. Most turbos dont have a manual tranny cause if they can afford the turbo then the get the "luxury" automatic. Im not sure about 940's but 740's are rare with manual trannys. good luck in your search for one.

I have an '88 740 with a 5 speed. A true 5 speed, not that 4 plus that my 240 diesel had. It's a great tranny. 940's are rare with manual and most years were not an option to my knowledge. My 95 940 has the auto and I much prefer the manual.

 

Was that a pic from a euro volvo? I don't care much for the styling of the 740 the more I look at it. I may still keep my eye out for a manual 940 if they do in fact exist.

 

no i thnk thats not an euro volvo, because they dont drive in the right(i believe)

 

I was hoping to find one myself, but I was told that they are rare, and that they are only found on the more upscale (i.e. harder to maintain) models.
