740 drivers window...
my 1992 745T, when I raise the drivers window, it comes forward slightly such that when it hits the top, its not seated in the track on the back edge of the door, and this leaves a noisy air gap. I believe the window regulator was replaced by the PO's mechanic, they likely used a recycled one..
I've tried some spray dry lube (Blaster TDL, which is powder teflon) on the track, didn't help.
is this adjustable? or does this mean I need a whole new regulator?

I had the same issue with my 90. I searched the internet for other solutions; the consensus was a new regulator...brand new. In addition to the wind noise, at highway speeds I would get random visits from rain water as well! I was hesitant to swap regulators as mine worked fine with the exception of the slightly forward movement but finally, I swapped it out and the problem(s) was/were solved. Be advised, the late 7's have the regulators pop riveted in.
whats riveted, the regulator to the door?
whats the replacement procedure involve?
confusing set of part numbers in Vadis :-/

ok, the first two are left, teh 2nd two are right.
meh, Tasca says the 3528565 is discontinued. but if I *search* tasca for my car, it comes up with
WINDOW REGULATOR 740; Left
MSRP Core ? Online Price
$192.44 $0.00 $143.85
but doesn't say if thats electric or manual. *MEH*.
the discontinued one says 'regulator electric'.. and says its for a 1994 940 (and probably other years). Well, tasca let me place the order, so who knows? the 'electric' one thats discontinued is $176.57 ($238 MSRP)

I don't believe any 7's or newer had manual windows so that portion is moot. Perhaps the number change is a new and improved version? I know the very early 7's, 83 to 85 or so...had different connectors for the harness but that's a quick fix.
Unlike the 240's, but as with most modern American cars, the 7's regulators are pop riveted to the inner door frame in 4 places. Perhaps they grew tired of the 240's electic regulators constantly wiggling loose. Once the door panel is pulled, the forward two rivets are seen above and below the small triangular hole...

The rear two rivets are hidden behind the white plastic latch cover.
Here's the cover removed...

Pull the inner door latch back and they are visible...

Shop labor for the job is an hour but reality has it at more like 1.5 if you have everything present to get it complete. I always run the window down half to 2/3's so I can reach the window clips but I leave the power attached until the last as sometimes the regulator needs to be adjusted up or down to pass easily through the access holes.

ah, went back to tasca to see if I could order the rivets, adn conveniently the rivets say they come with the regulators.
p.s. I bet 7's and 9's came with manual windows in non-US markets... I even saw an alternate PN for the door pocket/handle that had a coin tray instead of the window switches....
