ordered a set of replacement strut/shock inserts for my 88 740 T. When I looked closer at the old units I see no spanner nut - the shocks have a welded bead all around where the go in, has anyone ever encountered this before? Maybe the whole tube unit is a Monroe or Midas deal?

no pic available, but i had to sawzall off tops and then found enough inside threads still good to accept the
new cart thread. I have no idea what previous owner had done, why or if he even knew.

some people dont take care of the cars. some do wierd things because they dont have money to fix it right. just be glad the first owner could weld good!
