Default 740 Power Loss at Low speeds. Please Help.

1991 740, non-turbo.
When i'm at a dead stop and give it some gas, it has almost no power. I"m surely an annoyance to those behind me at a stop light. When i finally get to about 10 to 13 miles an hour (after about 4 or 5 seconds), it takes off just fine, and runs well. Sometimes it feels like it's 'missing' at these low speeds, and sometimes it doesn't... but the result is the same...little power...
I've changed the spark plugs, and gapped them correctly. That didn't seem to help. There was a hole in the hose comming off the air filter, which i fixed, and that didn't seem to help either. (i was happy to find the hole, wishing that it was the problem..hehe)
I also replaced the fuel filter.
Anyway... any ideas on what to check next?
Thanks,
Michael

Measure the resistance of the spark plug wires see what they should be in manual....I think it might be time to change. They are pricey little devils...Also if you have changed the plugs use standard bosh or ngk do not use platinum tip as I have had repeated problems with these (platinum tip falls out)

I measured the spark plug wire resistance with an ohmmeater... i didn't really know what i was doing, but what i got was... shortest wire to longest... 30, 40, 70, 170. the ohmmeater had several settings and dials, so i don't know how to compare it to what it says in the manual.... but it seems to me that the longest wire shouldn't have ALMOST 2.5 times the resistance of the second longest wire. (it's just about 10 to 15% longer) So it seems a new set couldn't hurt... i'll give it a try, thanks.

Check the codes in the fuel and ignition system.

Check for vacuum leaks.

1.7 M OHM should be about right.
Are the intake hoses' integrity sound? check for air leaks or cracks at the hoses.

you have automatic transmission or manual? perhaps the clutch is failing.

how long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? perhaps it is clogged, if it's been more than 6 months, change it.
