Default 75 240, the fan doesn’t work.

I’ve got a 1975 240 and the fan has never worked. Turning the switch provokes no response, no odd noises or anything. It doesn't get very hot nor very cold around here so the fan isn't vital, but it'd be nice if I could fix it. I want to know what I'm getting into before I take the front off my dashboard (which is quite eager to come off on its own if I accelerate too quickly) and any ideas as to what might be wrong would be helpful.

Pretty much every auxiliary on the car seems to work except the clock and the fan. Even the electric windshield demister.

It comes out from the side and I think it is one of the more difficult jobs on a volvo. I would rather do a clutch. It is lengthy and difficult to get out. I would get good instructions before the attempt is made. You can check it electrically before you decide it is no good. I dread the day when my blower goes out. Did my parents 81 240.

agreed 240 fans and heater cores are not fun at all. i dont really have any good ideas excpt if you get a new fan from a junk yard just take note how you ripped and fought your way to it and to get it out, then be nice a gental to yours...(its hard to be nice to them when you get about 6 hours into it and still dont have it out) good luck
