Default '83 245 Rear Wiper Wiring Problem - Help!!

Hi......I'm currently restoring a 1983 245 wagon. It's a great little car and runs like a champ but I'm having a problem with the rear wiper. Recently, I rebuilt the rear wiper motor as it stopped working one day. Upon inspection, I found that the old grease had hardened to the point where it was binding it up. I cleaned everything out and re-lubricated it and it worked great on the bench. However, when I installed it back in the car, it worked for a few swipes but then blew the fuse in the fuse panel. I carefully looked everything over to make sure nothing was binding, hung up or shorting out and everything was fine. I took the motor out again to rexamine again thinking I had done something to it by accident but it still works just fine on the work bench. I then tested the wiring thinking perhaps I had a short or a wiring problem. There are three wires that hook to the motor. Two black and one gray. I know one black wire is the ground. The other black wire tested 12 volts ALL the time, even with the wiper switch off. The grey wire tested for 12 volts only when the wiper switch was on either in intermittant or steady on.

Does anyone know what the correct wiring hook-up is suppossed to be on the wiper motor and why the two fifferent 12 volt supply wires? Is the one black wire suppossed to be hot all the time, even when the wiper switch is in the off position? Could the black hot all the time be a problem? I'm not sure how this thing is suppossed to work so I can't figure out where the problem is.

Please help!

Thank you in advance for anyones help!
