'83 Diesel M46 - Will it fit my '83 B23F?
I found an '83 Diesel that's being parted out with an M46 + all pedals, shifter, driveshaft, etc. but I need to know if it'll fit my '83 with the B23F, or would I have to get a non diesel transmission to mate up with the other parts? I need to find out by tomorrow, as I called him today, and he's taking the car to the junkyard on Tuesday. Also, do the rear axles bolt into the differential? I think he wants to torch them to get it out of the rear of the car.
Also, side question - Can I swap the late blue A/C switch in for my old **** style A/c? switch? I want the extra accessory space w/o sacrificing my cigarette lighter.
Thanks!
Wes

diesel to gas
The diesel M46 transmission is the same for gas and diesel with one exception.
The end of the mainshaft on the diesel, where in goes into the pilot bearing in centre of flywheel has a pressed on collar. Collar can be removed probably by using a hand held grinder. Clutch pedal on the diesel is different at cable end. You will need a gas clutch pedal. Diesel bell Housing is different on diesel M46. You will require a M46, gas, bell housing and a gas, cross member. You can use diesel cross member but you will have to hack saw the 'wings' off it.
