The idle air motor supplies the air at idle when you step on the gas you open the throttle body and the air mass meter tells the cpu how much air. Look at that accordian looking thing that connects the throttle body to the air mass sensor. If there is a hole in it you are getting unmetered air and you will be too lean and the car will run crappy. They sometimes rub on the inner fender and get a hole rubbed in them. If you find no hole unplug your air mass sensor electrical connection. You have to depress the wire clip then it just unplugs. This puts the computer in limp home mode it should run but not so great. if it runs better now with the air mass sensor unplugged you probably have a bad air mass sensor. It can also be the throttle position sensor if it has a bad place in it it will just die when you turn the throttle to the bad place. To check this you have to hook up an analog volt meter set to ohms and measure the resistance of the unplugged throttle position sensor as you slowly open the throttle. It should move up smoothly if it drops suddenly you have found your problelm. There are three things to check anyway. Good luck.
