Default P0444. 95 turbo roughs idles/Stalls and wont stay running.

; 95 turbo roughs idles/Stalls and wont stay running for more than 10 secs.

Pulled error code on the OBD-2 p0444 Evap emissions control system purge valve open.

The only code.

I replaced the vacuum hoses that leads from the intake manifold into the purge valve solenoid and than to the charcoal canister as these hoses were very old and had visible tears and holes.

Still stalls out after I turn the engine on and rough idles for 10 seconds, splutters then stalls.

I hope I do not have to buy one of these. This link shows the what I am talking about:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...kit-850-272190

I did replaced the vacuum hose part with same old purge valves as this was a cheap fix in my mind as the hoses was very old as stated above.

Any insight on P0444 and my car stall outs? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Not really. Did you check the car system for codes?

Did you check the codes with the system I linked you to? Really sounds like a bad MAF.

My obd-1 broke off the wire so I can't use that to get those codes. Only p0444 in the obd-2.
Is it possible my charcoal canister is clogged or cat is bad? A lot is bad smoke when I do get the car on and at idle. Stalls out. I am lost on what to do here. My car was running top notch till now.

by OBD1 wire you mean the probe wire that jumpers in the A and B test ports under the hood? Mine broke off a while ago too but I simply put the jumper into the port and hold the broken wire against its other half (ie press into where the wire broke) and it works fine to pull codes.

I unplugged the MAF sensor connection wire and the car was able to drive normally but with very rough idle at stops.

I have 2 old spare bosch maf sensors,1 original with car and 1 from junkyard. I also bought an aftermarket when I got my Turbo. It is the one that stalled on me and giving me p0103 and p0444.

I bought this new crappy aftermarket maf sensor 2 years ago and worked OK for a long while but come to think of it, I keep getting p0171 error code all time with all 3 sensors, so I will and want to buy a new MAF OEM Bosch sensor. I keep doing home smoketest and replaced practically all the major vacuum hoses and the little ones but the 0171 keeps plaguing my car.

I will use my other two old Bosch sensors in the mean time and hopefully they will work after I cleaned them with CFC MAF sensor cleaner till I get a new sensor .

I cleared the codes and will test drive again tomorrow. Thanks RSPI for your help
