Default 86 740 won't start

Have an 86 740 turbo that wouldn't start this morning. I live in Canada and its been cold lately so I thought it might be the battery, had it check and charged so its good, but still dosen't start. When I turn the key, all lights and accessories turn on but I just get a click sound. I'm thinking it might be the starter. Anyone have any ideas that might help?

Measure the voltage drop from the positive side of the battery to the positive post on the starter while someone else turns key. Should read very little if you get 3v or more you have a bad cable, connection, This is voltage drop testing. Now try negative side of the battery to the ground on the starter while someone else turns key. Again it should read very little if you are gettting more than a volt it is a bad cable, clamp, croroded connection, etc. Are you sure battery is good? Measure volts across terminals while someone else turns key and see if you still have 11 volts or so..

Thanks for your reply's But I had it towed to my mechanic today and it appears that the wiring is shot, need to replace the whole harness which was going to cost me about $800cdn until he told me that it will be about a month to get the harness because it is on backorder everywhere he tried, I'm currently looking for one online, anyone know of a good website?
I looked into it and it seems that Volvo's from 80 to 87 had defective wiring which becomes brittle, cracks and falls off over time so you end up with wires with no insulation that short out.
So far the best place I've found is http://personal.linkline.com/dbarton/

try www.fpcgroton.com they seem to be the most reasonably priced place I could find. I do not know if they carry that particular part.
