Default '86 Volvo 240DL "Brake Failure Light" Sensor Replacement

Hello, New to the Forum and looking for some advice/ knowledge.

I got a 1986 Volvo 240DL

My issue that the "Brake Failure Light" Sensor is leaking on the brake fluid junction box.

Is there a gasket or washer I can replace?
Can I just replace the Sensor?
OR
Do I HAVE to replace the whole junction?

Thanks for any replys

Yes you have to replace the whole junction block, I've never seen replacement internal parts sold and have replaced hundreds of those junction blocks.

You might want to make sure the brake lines come loose before ordering. They easily could be seized after 3x years. And it's a real PITA if a brake line gets destroyed! You don't just go down to the auto parts store and buy a replacement.

When ordering a replacement I would suggest getting an OEM junction rather than the aftermarket version. I ordered an aftermarket and found after installing it that it leaked as well. Doing the job twice is a real pain as some of those lines are difficult to get to.

And if you wanted to avoid replacement - you might be able to find a steel or brass plug that will fit where the plastic cap with terminal is (where it's leaking from) . Remove that plastic, screw a plug on (maybe a tapered tread plug). That will stop the leak. Of course when you step on the brake pedal and the pedal goes to the floor because there's no brake fluid, or the master cylinder is really bad - you won't get a red light on the dash that means - HEY YOUR BRAKE PEDAL JUST WENT TO THE FLOOR!
