Default '87 745GLE intermittent starting problem.

Hi All,
Recently my 745 has developed a weird "no-start" condition. The car will start up and drive fine...then randomly, after parking, turning the car off, and trying to re-start a few minutes later, the engine will turn, but won't fire up. It barely ever does this, and if I wait any significant time, like more than 1 or 2 hours, it will start up again fine. I haven't been able to test for fuel or spark, because every time it happens, I'm somewhere away from my tools.

Any suggestions on where I should start looking? I haven't replaced the MAF sensor since I've owned the car... would that be a possible culprit for an occasional no-start?

Thanks for your input.

Fuel relay--a good place to start.
