'88 244 - Won't start
I went out to my car and started her up. It stalled and then I couldn't get it started again. The engine turns over but it just won't start. I did smell gas at one point when I got out of the car. This happened a week after I went off the road an literally landed on someones lawn. To me it seems like the engine is not getting fuel. I posted to get some input as to what I should check for. Any thoughts?
It could be a fuel pump problem, sometimes they shut off after an impact/crash. You may need the fuel pump repaired, or try playing with the fuses for the in tank and main fuel pump, and fuel injector.
Checked the fuses, none blown including the 30a fuel system fuse under the hood. Strong spark from the spark plug cable. I listened near the gas cap for humming while a friend cranked it. Didn't hear anything. Probably gas pump, you think?
Take a look at the link below. Has nice instructions & pictures of diagnosing and replacing the in-tank pump on a 240. The car should start even with a failed in tank pump unless your main pump is week. From the instructions on the page, you should be able to tell if either pump has failed
