88 245 rear bike rack questions
have a few questions about getting/installing a tailgate bike rack...
i was thinking of getting one for the rear of my wagon to place my bike when i get home since there is no shed or bike rack around my neighborhood and i have 4 roomies. i don't have a tow hitch but have seen a bike rack that attaches to the tow hitch and another one that goes on the rear door directly. i don't have a tow hitch, but would like a secure rack so was thinking of getting one and installing it...so do i need to drill holes for that or are holes already on the frame? also what are the pros and cons of a tow hitch vs. direct mount bike rack?

all the holes for the hitch are in place, they even have the threads in place. the hitch is a simple bolt on job. I used the draw-tite brand ones on both our 240 and 740.
I prefer roof racks like Yakimas for carrying bikes, but I use hitch racks too at times. I do NOT like those cheapy racks that clip on the trunk door., they aren't very secure, and there is way too high of a chance of doing paint or metal or even glass damage if a bike shifts on the rack.
