Default 88 dl wagon air conditioning

I have a 88 dl wagon. The AC isn't getting power to compressor. The fuse is OK, is there another relay source? Where is it typically? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Default A/C Relay

Yes , there is a relay for the A/C system. It is located behind the center console (where the heating and A/C and fan controls are) on the passenger side of the car. Another thing to check is the wiring. My '86 has the biodegradable wiring; I believe your '88 may also have it. Inspect and handle the wiring that goes to the evap/drier mounted on the passenger side next to the radiator and where it passes by the Air Mass Meter. Notice if the insulation is still present or if it crumbles in your hand. If the bare wire touches any metal part, it will ground out. It is not difficult to replace that section of wiring, or you could try to repair it with electrical tape.

I would also consider the possibilty that the low pressure switch has cut the current because of a leak. This is done to save the compressor from running with insufficient lubrication which will ultimately cause it to seize. On a 22 year old car, AC leaks are quite likely..

No low side switch...only a high side.
