89 245 parking brake repair
Hi Folks, I am working on my noise in the 245's rear end.
As I reassemble the axles assembly, I find that the dang parking brake shoes are not assembling correctly, the rotor will not fit back on the axle.
I have looked for videos on reassembly, but all are fairly vague in their coverage of the parking brake reassembly. It seems like it should be fairly straight forward bu alas, not quite so.
I can't seem to get the shoe ends to rest against the stationary stops where the parking cable assembly attaches.
Does anyone have experience in this and might be able to point to either a video or some documentation on the proper procedure?
Thanks yall.
Cheers.

If you get the parking brake cables released enough and the adjusters (if present) to where the shoes will touch each other - the disc will fit on. But I have had aftermarket brake shoes that were too thick - and prevented disc installation. - The solution was brake shoes of the correct thickness.
Yes it is or can be a very frustrating job.

Well it is the same set of shoes, I am only reinstalling them after I replaced the inner axle seal, so trying to find out why I can't get the dang shoes to hit the shelf for the shoe ends.
The parking brake is not engaged in the car, the rotor came off quite easily when I removed them, just can't them back in place properly.
Thanks for the reply,
john
