Default Parking brake

Hey, i have e V50 1.8 06. When i was about to drive this morning i noticed that the parking brake didn't relase when i put it down. And nothing happend when i putted it back up again. The parking is always on. What can be the problem?

Looking at your location - a frozen parking brake cable - I was taught to avoid using a cable based parking brake (if possible) in a wet frozen climate.

Not much to do but try to cycle the parking brake lever up and down to see if you can un-stick it. It's not that complicated though - just follow the cable to the rear brake assembly and see if you can find a binding point, and of course, shoot some lube (not WD-40, which has barely any oil) into / on the cable and any mechanism.

I hate rust. I spent all day Saturday getting one hub/bearing out of my BMW 530xi, because it spent a few years in the frozen north.
