89 740 Turbo Shifting Problem???
Hey everyone,
Im new to volvoforums.com and to Volvo's! I just bought an 89 740 Turbo, it runs good but it might have a transmision problem. Say at a red light and i am at a dead stop then when i step on the gas it goes through the gears realy fast.. then it is in the last gear from like 25mh on.... Just wondering if that is how it is supposed to be lol or if its a problem?? Any help thanks!!

That is what makes the transmission shift down when you hit the gas hard and need it to down shift to accelerate.
If it is to tight or to loose it will affect upshifting as well.

Hey thanks tech for the info! I dont know if it was thatcable you were talking about but i was looking at my engine and there was a cable completly not conected so i reconected it and everything is fine now! thanks again
Tech saves the day again!!
On my Vette they call it the TV cable (Throttle Valve) and it tells the transmission what the engine is doing, and what gear to be in , as well as how hard and how often to shift.
Mine came loose and it slipped in all the gears and shifted late...scared me pretty bad, but as simple adjustment cured it.
