Hello,
I have a beautiful 1989 240 sedan that i bought this last summer.
She has been treating me very well so far with no issues, however recently I have face my first MAJOR almost career ending situation.
My power steering rack started leaking and I tried using power steering leak stop fluids and such but its just keeps getting worse and worse.

Is there anything I can do before having to replace it?
My shop tells me I need to replace it completely, HOWEVER they claim I cant source the right rack (implying the car is toast).
Do you have any suggestions to where to look for one?
I really really do not want to give up on this car.
Any thing will help.

Where is it leaking from? Many times the hard power steering fluid line that runs along the front of the rack will rust and develop leaks. If that is where yours is leaking then it can be replaced. There was a thread on here a few years back where someone sourced a new line. If it is leaking from the seals then it will need to be rebuilt.
