Starts and idles decent as soon as i touch the gas or try to put it in gear it dies. Any ideas? Thanks.

 

Tell us more please. It absolutely won't rev up, even in neutral? Is the exhaust clean or does it smoke a little? Have you tried unplugging the air mass meter? It has a limp home mode. When unplugged, it simulates failure and the car will run like crap or even die. If there is no change then there is a good chance the AMM is dead. Is this someone's car you're trying to fix, a recently acquired car or have you had it for a while and know its history?

 

my car did that when my external fuel pump had lost a wire and was not working. would rev rough try to go and it dieed. started right back up each time.
