90 740 gle temp gauge bouncing

I have a 1990 740 gle. When I accelerate the temp gauge will bounce. I don't know if this is a prob. with the gauge or if I should even trust the gauge

Make sure the connection is secure where the wire plugs onto the sensor--front of the head, under the intake manifold.
