Last week the car had trouble going into overdrive. This week it will only go into 2nd gear. Transmission fluid level & color unchanged. 180k mileage. Is my tranny going south, or are there some things I can do to possibly help....I dunno, fluid change, flush, special treatment?

 

Is the transmission fluid nice & pink? Does it smell burnt at all?

Certainly a flush wouldn't hurt. If the fluid is brown and smells burnt, then your transmission is toast. If not, the flush may help. Another thing you might want to check is the linkage bushings. Is your shift lever really sloppy? If so, perhaps it is in 2nd instead of Drive.
