Default 91 240 will start, wont idle.

Help! 240 will start and rev but then dies when returning to idle. Will restart and do the exact same thing. I can add throttle and rev it to keep it running but it seems to miss. Once the pedal is released it returns to very rough and dies. Checked OBD. Have a MAF loss of signal code. I unplugged the MAF and it will not run in limphome mode either.

Any help appreciated.

You have a massive "misfire" which needs further investigation: start with a basic plug, wire, basic ignition check, then a compression test if no apparent reason is found. It could be ignition or fuel related, or more serious like head gasket. How did it start, gradually or?

Gradually ran rough after warming up. Would seem to stumble then run ok. Now it starts, revs ok (no miss) then as it drops to idles, it falls on its face.

It could be many things from spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, air filter, MAF, idle control module, air hose, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, injector, corroded fuse, to head gaskets.
