My 91 740 n/a just crapped it's alternator. Because it has a denso and not a bosch alternator it was almost impossible to get a new (reman) altenator from a parts store so I had the alternator rebuilt. The rectifier was bad and it was draining the battery and it melted the ground strap from the alt to the block. So now I have a new alt and a new batt and a new ground strap. It drove great yesterday, but this morning it sputtered once when I was coming to a stop on the highway, and then when I was pulling into the street by my work it died, but it started right back up. Then when I was pulling into the parking lot at my work it died agaim. After a little cranking and sputtering it fired right back up...

What's going on?????

 

Lots of things could be happening, I love how people ask what wrong with there car like there situation describes one possible answer. test data is needed.

 

You probably have a idle speed solenoid that needs cleaning.
