Default 92' Volvo 240 Shuddering and stalling from stop

Hello all, been a long time lurker but finally needed some more fine tuned help. I have a 92' Volvo 240 wagon automatic I've owned for quite some time now. Started encountering this problem where from stop the car will shudder and the dash will light up and the engine will occasionally die. If I press the peddle a few times it normally snaps out of it but not always. I think it idles fine (maybe a little high but only have a clock instead of rpm gauge) and will even drive for a bit but mostly at a stoplight the problem will occur. It seems to stop after the car warms up but I'm too anxious to drive it around for long. Cleaned the filthy throttle body, replaced MAF sensor, and changed the air filter and it seems that it runs better, but the problem still occurs. What advice would you suggest? Thanks for your help

Have you checked your engine codes? When you cleaned your throttle body, did you check the adjustment of the throttle position switch? Also, you might want to check the idle air controller. It might need cleaning as well.

When I check the engine codes after inserting a probe into a slot I can’t get it to flash a code. The only way it lights up is when I click the button on the ECU and the led lights when I click the button. Am I doing the test wrong? I did not check the adjustment of the throttle position switch. That’s the black electronic box that’s attached to the throttle body that the you unplug the connector to right? I was under the impression not to mess with that. I will check that as well. Do you clean it in the same manner as the throttle body?

Check out this link. It describes how to clean the throttle body and the throttle position switch. Your car is the LH2.4 fuel injection.

https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-9...itchAdjustment

Read up on that site as it has info on how to check/clean the idle air controller as well
