93 940 Non Turbo Not Starting...
Hey Guys -
My stepdad and I are trying to fix my 940. It will not start. It is turning over, and we just tested that it has spark. But we noticed that once I tried to start it, we smelled gas. Sure enough, when we looked under the car, there was gas leaking from under the engine. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? I am thinking a fuel filter? Fuel Pump? Or maybe some fuel lines?
Thanks in advance!

My first thought is the fuel check valves. Follow the fuel lines from the intake down and on the driver side you will find 2 ( I think) check valves inline. They are round and will look like the top has holes all the way around it. Sounds like they are not working and the fuel pressure being backed up is causing a fuel leak. Dont know if the part is available new. I would go and try a junk yard.

Alright, I will check that. Also, is it possible it is the fuel pump? I think the fuel pump is in the gas tank? Is that right? I cannot find the haynes manual or chilton, and seeing how I am working on it today, ordering it online is not an option. Anyone know a place online I can look at one?
Thanks!

there are 2 pumps if your car is a bosch car. Look att the coil and if its bosch you have 2 pumps. The one in the tank is the pick up pump and the outer is the pressure pump.
if the gas is leaking out the engine then obviously the gas is getting there and the pumps are working. Exactly where is the gas leaking out of?

Okay, first off if you haven't already fixed your 940 tarken is to check if you've broken your timing belt, if you have a b230f like I have that'll be easy bc theirs a plug on the timing belt cover pull that off an give it a look see. The best thing i've learned about the 940's is that they'll just shut down if you break your timing belt unlike the 850's whom are interference engines.
Second: check to see if you've broken a fuel line, I have 205k miles on mine an I haven't any fuel line problems yet soz iono.
Third: you might see if your fuel pump relay has gone bad. You can test that by sitting in your drivers seat an turning the ignition to the on position while your listening for a hum in the in the fuse box area. If you don't hear that hum then you might consider replacing that relay. I bought mine for iono possibly $50+ I can't recall.
Fourth: Though stupid as it may be, an mind you i've done some stupid stuff with my car's fuses. Check to see if you haven't blown your 25Amp fuse. Since we have the same year make and model vehicle it should be the #1 in your fuses.
Other than that I believe yes you should look in your cars service manual an see if your fuel filters ever been replaced. My motto, if in doubt replace the sucker. Also you shouldn't be seeing any gasoline leakage on the passenger side since the fuel lines, fuel filter and gas tank are all on the left side of the vehicle.
Lastly Bigdaddyrdpjr on the right side under portion of the 93 Volvo 940 B230F is just the exhaust system with possibly some metal brake lines, least they appear to be I can't be positively dead certain currently, running to the rear of the vehicle.
