<y odometer just stopped working at 212k. Anyone know if this problem is just like the gear problem in the 850's? If not is there a common fix? The speedometer works fine.

 

Yep, the 240's often fail at around 200k mi. It is usually the small gear that fails; if after replacement it still doesn't work, try the larger gear. Even after replacement, there may be too much drag in the system for it to work all the time. Some lube like grafite or silicone may fix that.
