Default 93' 940 turbo camshaft replacement

I've been getting performance itchy and have been thinking about throwing that IPD performance cam into my car. I know its only a matter of time before I decide to do it so I have some questions that need to be asked.

1. This is basically an unbolt, remove, replace and re-bolt procedure right? (apart from the liberal application of grease and oil)

2. I figure I might as well replace the seal right behind the cam pulley. Are there any other seals that should be considered other than the ones for the distributor?

3. I might as well check my timing while I'm at it. I haven't gotten very clear results or maybe I just don't get it, but how exactly is the timing controlled? The distributor is cam driven, so as long as the engine is at TDC, I can remove the cam pulley and line it up with the marks when I put it back on without having changed the timing, correct?

Thanks for any help!

the timing on a B230F(T) is controlled by a crank position sensor thats on the back of the engine, below the distributor. all advance is done electronically by the ignition control unit...

Ah, I see. I did not know that that controls the timing. So, as far as the 'timing' belt goes, it's just there to drive the pulleys?

I was talking about the ignition timing...

the timing belt determines the timing of the crankshaft. that HAS to be right on or things run funny.

ah, sorry for not putting 2+2 together. I recently replaced the head gasket so I obviously had to take the timing belt off and I replaced it. All I did was make sure everything was TDC and the corresponding marks/lines were lined up then threw the belt on. It seems like the engine gets bogged down in the low RPM's if I lay on the throttle so I am wondering if my timing is out of whack, because frankly I never rechecked the timing to make sure everything was still lined up.

To anyone who knows the answer:

Is there a specific tightening sequence for the bearing caps since they are only at 20lbs?

Does the distributor need to be removed prior to swapping out the camshaft?

thanks again for any answers.
