I was noticing my transmission was loosing fluid so i took it in to my local mechanic. He said that the pan bolts had worked themselves loose and that the pump was leaking a bit. We tightened them up and i went on my way.


5 days later i have to slam on my brakes to avoid an accident. Smoke starts coming up from underneath the car. I pull over and there is trans fluid all over the underside of the car.

I limp it to my mechanic again and it is sitting their waiting for him to look at it tomorrow morning. Im just curious if anyone else has had this happen and what remedied the situation?

 

since we don't know the root cause for this, its hard to say what 'this' is. has anyone had a transmission leak on a 20 year old car? I'm sure. I've never heard of pan bolts working themselves loose if they were properly torqued in the first place.
