HELP....940 Turbo......Turbo Oil Return
First let me say.....I HATE CARS right now......LOL
Last week our faithful van had a transmission hose come off in the worst traffic area in Atlanta. Long story made short. Killed the transmission $ 1500 and it is in the shop.
Our 2nd car a 1994 volvo turbo has been getting us around. I change the oil on Sunday. I noticed the Oil Cooler Lines gummy. I replaced them today. While I was doing this I must have moved the line running from the turbo into the block that returns the oil So, when I give gas it is now dripping oil. So the pipe must be off the gasket or O ring. It is now 10 pm and there is now way I can pull everything apart and do it all over again.
What I am thinking is sealing the area with some Permatex Ultra Black Max. oil gasket maker. I can seal around the tube tonight and let it dry over night to get a good seal.
Does anyone see a problem with this ? Worse comes to worse I can always take it apart again. Just a lot of work. Thoughts ??? Comments ?? I have to admit like how that just lays in the engine block.
Thanks,
Patrick

What does the Oil Filter attach to ? Is that an oil cooler ? This is where the two hoses run int and out off. This is what is causing the problem. It has moved or twisted a 1/4 turn to far. I am unsure how to remove. I am afraid to put a screw driver or anything where the hoses attach for fear of breaking the nipples.
Suggestions on how to loosen or twist back ? I don't want to replace another part.

The oil filter screws into the oil cooler filter adapter/sandwich plate where the two lines going to the cooler enter. The sandwich plate is held onto the block by a threaded extension bolt. You should be able to tighten the large hex bolt and diminish the leak. There's an o-ring that seals the filter adapter/sandwich plate to the block; it's probably bad. You should consider replacing it soon...just a couple of bucks at Volvo. Not much harder than changing an oil filter. If you loosen the support bracket nearby, you should be able to pull the adapter w/o pulling the oil lines. I'd wait until the prime mover is out of the tranny shop before I tackled the o-ring replacement!
