Question 94 940 no-start

I hope im in the right place. I have a94 940 turbo wagon it ran great now it doseb=nt run at all. I have tested evry thing I can think of and have come to the coil. I disconnected the coil amp plug and tested continuity on the red and white wire. it is good. I tested the blue wire from the coil to the amp plug and nothing. now what happened as I moved my tester probe it fell on the ac condenser and I had continuity. But if I test from the coil end of the wire there is nothing. please help

(I moved your post to its own thread, as your problem likely has nothing to do with the thread you posted on).

the blue wire at pin 15 of the coil (and at pin 4 of the power module) should be power when the ignition is switched on, this power comes directly off the ignition switch. I would verify this with your multimeter in DC Volts mode, switch the ignition on, black probe on the ground at the EFI rail, red probe on those two 'blue wire' places above, both should be live with battery voltage (12V or whatever).

thanks I remember in one of your post your talked about the radio noise suppression relay. I heard a buzzing from the glove compartment area. would that have anything to do with this?? Also when I tested continuity from the power plug to the coil on the blue wire I got nothing. But when the probe touched the ac condenser it sounded off. that would be a dead short right? But if I test the same from the coil end I get nothing at all.

a 940 doesn't have any relays behind the glovebox, they are mostly all in the central relay panel behind the ashtray, except a few under the hood.

I would forget continuity tests, rather, you should check for voltages when things are switched on.

Your tests mean very little. That is OK. I wasn't born knowing this crap either.

Test for spark first. Sprak?

Fuel? Pull the fuel rail, reground the wires, DISABLE ignition or you can start fire, aim fuel rail at the sky and have a friend crank. Fuel?

Test for spark by putting the wire from coil to dist to strut tower. Crank. Spark?

Tools needed for above test. A 10mm socket! Do it and post back new member...

Ok. No spark. Most common point of failure is RPM sensor. Top of bellhousing. Inspect for damaged wires. Replace with the highest quality one you can get your hands on. Get out the 1/4" extensions, wobbler/universal, and a 10mm socket!
