Default 940 radio problem

The radio in my 940 wagon works but is very scratchy when I move the volumn up or down. The front two speakers were blown when I bought but they have since been replaced and know its just loud and scratchy.

Agreed...I just replaced my radio for the same problem.

The volume control is a white block, not a coil-wound rheostat, so it didn't respond to contact cleaner sprayed inside. (I TRIED!!!)

On the bright side, you will get CD capability when you replace the head unit!

On my model (88 240), there is a TSB for the radio being scratchy and having too much juice to the front speakers causing it. I'll look it up in a few and post the repair, I want to say it was just a piece of cunductive tape or something. Give me a few, perhaps it will help someone.
