940 radio removal procedure

RE: 940 radio removal procedure
Can someone please tell me how to remove the original radio from my 1993 940 wagon ?
First pull the ***** straight off. Don't be afraid to pull hard...
Then the selector rings behind the ***** pull off.
There are square retaining clips outboard of the shafts. You can see them by peering in at the shafts. These must be pried toward the shaft while pulling the radio out. I can never do both actions at once so I get help from the Significant Other. [&:]
ALSO if the radio resists coming out, there are anti-rattle clips at the top of the radio that can hang at the plastic surround. Might need yet another hand to pry these down while pulling. Don't use too much force, you could break the surrounds.

Repairing the cassette doesn't sound like a cost-effective repair...OE radios seldom are. Around here you are talking $100 USD just to have a repair place look at it, and that's after it's removed from the car!
I know you are on the other side of the world, but why not just upgrade to a newer radio? I just installed a $170 Pioneer radio/CD in my '94 'cause the OE's volume control was failing.
I bought mine at Crutchfield and the installation was rather easy...required the soldering of 15 color coded wires onto the supplied adapter harness. If you have any questions ask NOW before I forget!!! [&:]
