Hi all,

My elderly mother has a 2004 S60 AWD with 41K miles. It started to excessively smoke the other day (about 6 weeks after selling dealer oil change). Brought it back to the dealer who diagnosed that oil was getting past the turbo oil seal. Repair (replace turbo) is going to be $2500. Dealer service claims that engine is sludged up which lead to turbo seal failure. I called an independent shop and he recommended that I force Volvo to repair under the 8yr/80K emission warranty.

Has anyone with a similar type of problem been able to get it repaired under the emission warranty (it has been out of the 4 yr warranty for 5 months).

The turbo is part of the exhaust system, so it should be covered by the warrenty, unless the emission warrenty is only for the Cat?
