944 door won't open from outside - stuck with instructions
Hey, I'm in the middle of trying to repair my driver side door; it opens from the inside, but not from the outside.
Dr. Google has given me a bunch of repair tips to start and I've gotten as far as removing the door panel and identified the problem:
The link rod has come off on the lower end. If I move it up and down, the outside handle moves with it, so that connection is still working. However, I can't figure out where the lower end is supposed to go.

Can anyone help out please?
Cheers!

And I'm going to answer to my own post, because Murphy's law of the internet states that you will find a solution the minute you post a question on a forum.
So I tried to decipher this image in the repair manual:

I wasn't even sure if that's the right picture to look at because it's listed under "door lock, adjustment". But I figured I might have tried the wrong angle. Note that at this point I still hadn't found any moveable part that looked like it should be connected.
So instead of trying to attach it from the left or outside I was looking for a way to attach it from the inside (like in that picture). And lo and behold... I found the moveable part! I had to attach from the right and it was relatively painless. The handle works again!
Although I found a tiny white broken plastic part in the bottom of the door which I think is the circly bit that I marked orange. The rod sits in the moveable part relatively loose, so I guess the fix is a temporary fix at best. I need to get a replacement for whatever that tiny white thing is but other than that: success!

I am replying to the old post with a new question. My 1994 Volvo 940 sedan has stuck rear doors. The outside handles are half off. The electric door mechanism seems to be working (sound of motor and linkage clunking when key turned in driver's door lock, and inside control lock panel also gets a response) but the linkage is likely not connected. I was able to get the driver's side rear door panel off and the white grommet was not connected. I removed the actuator motor for a better look.
The lever with the red circle from the above picture seems like it should be the one to move to open the door. However, when I push it up as far as I can with a screwdriver, the door is still stuck. The door itself may be wedged in the frame as the previous owner used it like an ATV! but I would expect at least a small clunk or vibration if the mechanism were attempting to open the door.
1. Is that lever normally the one to move to unlatch the door?
2. If it is stuck, any suggestions on getting the door off? I am considering removing the hinges, which will be a pain, but the rear will still be "latched".
