Edited after looking at the 200/700/900 FAQ at http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/FAQSummary1.htm.

I'm seeking advice on buying a (seemingly) cherry 1991 940 GLE from the original owner. According to the owner, it has been well maintained by an independent Volvo wrench, has 250K miles, is garaged, etc. The only problem is that the speedometer needle occasionally jumps up to 80 to 90 MPH, when being driven at 40 to 50 MPH, and then gradually comes back to the correct reading.

Questions:

1. Incredibly, the car does not have cruise control. The FAQ has a procedure to add CC to 700 series US cars. Does that apply to 900 series as well?
2. Any other advice on buying a car like this? There is advice in the FAQ.
4. What should I pay for it?
