Air Compressor Clutch Problem.

Air Compressor Clutch Problem.
i couldn't get my a/c to work the other day (sometimes it stops for a minute or two and kicks back in.), so i popped the hood while the engine was running. the belt was spinning normally on the compressor, but the compressor itself wasn't spinning. this happened when i first put it in, but i found out that it just wasn't grounded out. i checked the ground and all other wires to it, and they're all attached like they should be. then, i checked the fuse panel to make sure no fuses were blown (i don't know if that could cause this, but it couldn't hurt to check anyways.). and they were all fine too. what could be causing this?

RE: Air Compressor Clutch Problem.
It sounds like the clutch is bad but your compressor is good. Considering the price of a new clutch, it's actually more cost effective to replace the whole thing (clutch and compressor).
I recently had a problem with my clutch. My A/C would work for about 5 minutes or so then cut out and blow the fuse (no. 8, I think) which it shared with my power locks and turn signals.
If you've run all your diagnostics and find that it is in fact a bad clutch, just replace the whole thing. Also, try jumping your low pressure switch at the evaporator with a paper clip. If the clutch kicks on, then your switch is bad.
