Default Alternator connection issues

Hey all. Nice to be part of the forum. Ive owned my 85 240 for a year or so now and its been one of the best cars ive ever owned. Ive owned lots of vehicles, mostly german, and this is my second favorite car ive owned. I dunno why, but i just love the look of it. On to the point of the post however. Today i had to change my alternator. First problem ive had with the car so i cant complain. The problem is, my father helped take the old one out, and when doing so didnt pay attention to what went where as far as the wiring goes. I was under the car, so i couldnt see what was where either (entirely embarassing to even have to ask this) The new alternator is the Bosch replacement for the car (all the 240 models use the same alternator) but its obviously been updated in the design of the poles. There are four wires, two i know where they go, but the ground post on the old alternator isnt on the new one. I assume i can simply ground it to the mounting bolt, but the fourth wire, which has a slip on clip connection rather than a screw post type doesnt seem to connect to the alternator anywhere, and i cant figure it out. Can anyone help me?? Thanks and ton up!!

I also had that problem. I went to another Auto Parts Store and got the right one, with 2 connections instead of 4. You may have purchased the wrong alternator.
