Default Another 240 brake light mystery

Hi all,

New to the forum, although I've visited for years as a non-user for various 240 odd jobs. Finally had to make an account for this one.

Brake lights stopped working on my '93 240 Wagon a couple weeks ago. Cruise control went with it - weirdly the cruise would not work with the headlights on but worked when the headlights (or the dimmer light) was off. Bulb failure light would illuminate when braking, as well as when the lights were turned on. First thing I did was replace the bulbs, no dice. Then I went for the brake switch - tested it and it wasn't that either - had to be further up the chain. Went to the bulb failure relay next, today I went to the local junkyard and got lucky - pulled a bulb failure relay off a '91 240 wagon, popped it in and all the brake lights work again, as well as the cruise control.

Yay! Except that the bulb failure light for some reason is still illuminating during braking and with lights on! I also am now hearing a little "click" coming from the dashboard whenever I press the brakes. All bulbs are working.

At a loss here, car is legal again and everything's working as it should, but that light is still coming on. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated !!!!
