Hey everybody I have been trying to get my Volvo (1989 740 gl B230f motor) to start today it finally did I accidentally left the charger on for about 20 hours! Then I figured I would give it a shot today and bang started like new it ran for about 5 min at a high idle then just died so I gave it a few min started again and it stalled after like 30 sec! I know it some sort of sensor or something any ideas will be much appreciated thanks a lot!

 

Did you try pulling codes?

 

yep came out clear its saying nothing is wrong

 

YOu will have to try to figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel.

 

any idea where i can find the RPM sensor on a 89 volvo 740gl?

 

Look at the back of the engine top side where the transmission meets the engine. You will see the wire going into. The sensor is held in with a 10mm screw.

right on thanks alot for your help! I went to the junk yard looking for another rpm sensor and couldnt find one (everybody tore the cables trying to get them out) so i grabbed a radio suppresion replay and i cleaned my rpm sensor and she started like a champ!!! but really thanks agian you have been a big help!! now for these bloody brakes....
