The more I read, the less comfortable I am with any of the workaround methods to hold the crank in place. Hoping someone in the area has the tool and would be willing to let it go for a weekend. Homemade baked goods would be provided as an additional courtesy.

Need on in central NY as well. No baked goods, but will be your best friend for life :P What other ways are there to hold the crank? I may be a little more comfortable doing them.

Hire an electric rattle gun or use a long breaker bar and the starter motor to break the bolt free, just rest breaker bar on LH chassis rail and crank engine briefly.
