Auto trans cable selector slid into the driveshaft at 40 mph.
Driving to the parts store yesterday my 240GL shift cable decided to eject the "E" clip that holds the shift cable on the trans.
The shifter slid back a little & the driveshaft caught it while going 40 mph.
I thought that the entire asembly would come through the tunnel wall.
I am going to look for a relpacement clip now, I beleive that it is a 5/16 stud.
You may want to look on the drivers side on the trans & check yours before you get the same excitement.

Well it's worse than I thought.
There was a washer or something on the other side of the cable to keep it in the hole.
I did not find the correct "E" clip, but it is at Lowes hardware store.
If I just attach the "E" clip, it is too small and will slip through the hole to the other side.
I will try a washer tomorrow & see if that works.
