B230f vent on block????
Hey guys I have a 91' 240 with a b230f and I pulled the down pipe off (from exhaust manifold to catalytic converter) and noticed a PCV valve looking thing behind the down pipe. This thing is on the engine block about oil filter height on the rear ish end of the block and it's got oil all around it and has nothing on it. It looks like there is a 1/2 inch nipple on it for like a hose or some thing but I don't know what this thing is???
I think thats a drain to get the coolant out of the block when you're complettely draining the system. The Volvo equivalent of a PCV is the 'flame trap' and 'oil separator box' on the intake side, under the intake manifold.
the white valve shown here near the engine mounting flange is the coolant drain.

the open hole below it and to the right a bit is used on a turbo for the turbo oil cooling circuit.
