Default Back with a question about my '91 244

Pulled my 244 out of storage. The horn doesn't work. There's a very muted "beep" that comes on for a fraction and then goes silent.

If I unplug the horn on the passenger side, then the horn sounds. This means the horn on the driver's side work. Which I believe is the low tone.

Can someone please confirm that:
1. The horn on the driver's side is the low tone.
2. The horn on the passenger's side is the high tine (which I need to replace)

Thanks!

When mine went bad I just replaced them both. When in the junkyard I couldn't find any from another 240 as they are quite scarce. I ended up pulling a pair from an older model Mercedes. They looked identical to my Volvo's and I don't notice any difference in the sound. It cost just a few dollars.

Thanks Act. Looks like there are no 240s in junkyard within 100 miles of mile....which is disappointing. The harsh winters and salt are taking them out I guess.

I might just end up getting the high tone "lifetime" warranty horn from FCP if I can't find one from an older Mercedes around here.

horns are all pretty much teh same thing, find ANY car with dual horns about the same size and mounting, and adapt it. sure, if its from an old VW, it will have that 'meep meep' sound.

Yeah, there is rarely 240s in the jy near me either. That's why I went with the Mercedes horn. Like Pierce noted, take a look around at the European cars in the jy and pull any that has dual round horns. They are all pretty close.

Will do! If not, that Hella horn looks to be an almost exact fit.

Just wanted to post back - the Hella generic horns worked like a charm.

50-50, the original 'Volvo' horns were Hella (other 50% is on Fiamm).
