Belt and seat blues
Hello everyone,
Did you ever want to take something apart, clean it and then after forget how to put it back together?
Well it happened to me recently with the 740's seat and belt.
After taking the the seats out and off the tracks a few bars and ball bearings rolled out.
I think they fit in between the upper and lower rail toward the middle of the tracks?
Also the seat belt retractor which attaches to the seat is unwilling to let the belt out? The belt is contracted and no one can buckle in? In fact I can't even attach it to the seat again, it's just hangging there.
Is this a common occurrence? Any trick to making it work?
It was worth it though whatever the problems just to see the look on my wife's face after I took them out.

The belt has a gravity switch inside and it has to be positioned 'just so' to unlock the reel. Best thing is to kind of move it this way and that to get it to unlock. Once free, pull out enough belt to secure it to the seat at which position it should be free to move as designed... The seat, yeah, things fall out, have to pay attention how it happens; may be someone has a seat schematic?
OK so I figured out how to put the metal bars and bearings in the seat tracks. It was not easy to find but the lower track has a grove and stop on opposite sides. The upper track slides in over the bar and bearing. A little grease and some patience goes a long way.
The seat belt locking mechanism in the driver side is temperamental. After taking the whole thing apart it works OK now. However the spring side sprung (is that a word) and I am left trying to wind it up. The problem is I can't get the thing to hold tension on the belt spool. I'm not even sure I have it together correctly. Anyone know how this thing works? I might just dismantle another one to see how the spring operates correctly.
Thanks Greg
