Well my 1991 Volvo 740 with 150K+ didnt start last night. Its just cranked. This morning it fired right up but wont start after I turn it off. It starts about every 10th time I crank it. The fuel injectors are not firing when it cranks(yes the fuel pump is working). I had a 1989 240 that wouldnt start and I replaced the ecm computer(the one on the passenger side foot well) and it fired right up and ran just fine after that. I suspect this is the problem and rather than try and hunt down every sensor and relay I would start with the main computer so I know thats good. I have a Bendix S101590102A(it has an ecm/96 sticker on it,and another one that reads 9179299-4 and the main part# is 3531658, I suspect it is not the original to the car as it has a dealer/mileage sticker on it as well but they are no filled out). I need to know what other bendix ECUs are compatible with this car, its a B23F engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. I can add a pic of the computer if you need it.

I need to know if the Bendix that I have is interchangeable with all the others with the same part number(but different number in the left hand corner). The part number is 3531658, are all of these ECUs with that part number interchangeable? This is my work car and I need it running fast!

 

I'd still swap out the FI relay before messing with the computer, just in case... The symptoms sound suspiciously like those of the relay acting up.
