1991 240 DL 4 doors, 200K miles., Ipd sport springs and Belstein touring shocks. My daughter's transportation to and from college.

It is about time to replace tires (stock 14" steel). Do not want to spend more money on rims. Currently has 195/70/14 on. I would like to know what is the largest tire I could put on without causing any problems e.g. rubbing, hitting the fender liner, etc.

Good luck...it's tough enough finding 14" tires in any size let alone oversized.

What are you trying to achieve. You can get a set of15" Volvo rims at a salvage yard pretty cheep. Then you have a lot better tire selection. I have a set of 15" with snows and a set of aluminum wheels with summer tires. I also have a set of 15" that I once bought from tire rack.
