Default Blow Motor stuck full blast

Hey there. I'm a proud owner of a 92 940GL sedan but unfortunately my blower motor is stuck on full blast. The **** to change the fan speed is stripped but I am still able to change fan speeds on the center console by gripping the inner "****" tightly and turning as usual. However, regardless of it's position the fan continues to blow on full blast. Is this a blower motor issue or do you think I need to start opening up my dash? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i'm betting that your switch is stuck internally. Go to the junk yard and pull one and swap out the one in you car.

Did this condition come with the car or was it recently acquired?

It did not come with the car but it happened around 2 years ago and I haven't been able to get around to it. Yes, ridiculous. The car was acquired in 2004 and the problem began late 2007. The car was recently inspected and the mechanic (along with a friend) believed it to be the resistor(?) that controls the electrical flow to the blower motor. Does that sound like a possibility?

OK thanks. Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to pull it off? Do you know if I need to open up the dash? Unfortunately, I recently lost my Chilton's.

Actually the top of the dash is about the only thing you don't have to remove. I've never had to do it on my 940 thank..goodness, on the 240 it's a bear, on top of the back side of the blower. But there are tricks around it I've not tried, Wait for others to post.
Good luck.

No I haven't yet actually. I'm getting over a surgery right now, so unfortunately I have a lot of things going on in different directions. I think what I'm going to do is go for the resistor first and then if that doesn't work, take things from there. I have a few things to do with the car; a possible transmission problem and I have to get new tires on as well. So it might take a bit of time. I'll keep the post updated though.

Your FAN MOTOR obviously is working quite well... especially after two years going on full blast so it could not be the problem. As ADUB96 says, a simple switch change would be the first thing to do and it is an easy 10 min operation.
